Times are super craaaazzy right now! Tragically, Europe and Asia are being devoured by a pandemic virus so to prevent being dessert America is under quarantine. So now here we are in our houses. Bored. On our screens. At least I assume since you seem to be reading this but hey hey let's change that!
Starting now, our team will be posting ideas this week of fun stuff
you can do! (yaaay!) It's not every year that the world almost ends, so let's make the most of it and have some quality fun! To help you out, we'll be throwing out our favorite games (did I hear
tournament?), books (of course!), outside activities (gotta enjoy it before we escape to Mars, right?), and movies ('cause screen time isn't
all bad). But before you get too pumped, let's roll into Day 1's excitement!
Here we go!

Day 1: Baking
So how 'bout we
sweeten up this week by kicking it off with a bake off! Grab your sugar! Get less than ten people! Preheat that oven! And most importantly,
wash those hands!! Because it's brownie time!
There are so many things you can do! Bake some bread and crack out the butter and honey! Stock your shelf with cookies (who needs to go shopping for toilet paper when you have
these chocolate chip goodies?!). Make a cake. Or maybe cash those brownie points. You don't even have to fill up on sugar and instead make a gourmet dinner with your family! Either way, it isn't totally complete without some lights, camera, bake-tion! (yes, that's a word now.)
Show-time Ideas
1. Cooking Show
 |
| Did someone mention apple pie? |
If there's any movie-maker spirit in your home, then you know there's nothing more classic than a good ol' cooking show! Pick your favorite recipe, clear aside some space, and whip out your phone. Don't forget to add some special effects through your favorite apps. A good idea is to film it in chunks to allow you to get different angles and close-ups. After you're done, then put your videos together and post it on social media. If you have siblings, try distributing the steps amongst them.
2. Bake-Battle
 |
| This just got real. |
Bake-Battle? Cooking-Competition? Whisking-War? Recipe-Rivalry? Okay, I need to stop, but the point is you're not through unless you spice things up.
This is a great idea whether you want to film or not. Some ideas are split into two teams and bake a double batch of cookies, choose some simple recipes and have multi-course dinner (someone does a salad, another bakes rolls, another grills the chicken...you get the idea🙂), or maybe test your family's artistic ability to frost sugar cookies. Have a taste-test and/or a point system based on time, cleanliness, and safety. If you're filming, occasionally pull aside siblings for a short interview reality show style. While you eat your product, you could even watch something like Dinner Takes All from BYUtv.
Choose which ever or both this week. But the most important thing is to do it with your...
Once you're done, don't forget to clean up. And enjoy the movie you made! Besides, next year, wouldn't you want to re-watch how much fun you had with this pandemic while you're off battling zombies?
